Gore’s We Campaign has been busy. They have been advertising heavily on TV (including my weakness, American Idol), and now have a new ad for your too see. Strange bedfellows (just an expression … I think) Nancy Pelosi and Newt Gingrich sit together … on a couch (no, not a bed) in front of the Capitol Building proclaiming their support for efforts to address climate change.
Here’s the video:
Ok, what’s weird here is that when I graduated from college, I was a Reagan … something (gosh, maybe even a re-re-republican. Ulp.) Newt was a hero for a while: seizing the bull by the … horns, and taking on the world. We all know how that ended (note for those who don’t: not so great). And then Newt lost his lustre and, well it’s history. But I liked it. At the time.
Now comes Nancy. She is remarkably similar: aggressive, divisive yet somehow strong … and weak in a way only a Speaker of the House can be. I mostly agree with her views, yet don’t think she is a very good representative for the Dems. (Actually, she is probably a very good representative, which is way more scary).
But these two strange bedfellows agree on one thing. They are not dumb.
Yes, climate change (a.k.a. global warming) does exist, and yes, it’s really important. It’s good to know that we’re getting to the point where everyone agrees that that elephant in the room is not just a donkey all dressed up :-)
